The 60th International Astronautical Congress took place between 12 and 16 October 2009 in Daejeon, Republic of Korea and was organised by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and Daejeon Metropolitan CIty. Daejeon is the third-largest city in Republic of Korea, home to many of Korea’s hi-tech industries.
